Peanut Butter: Salty, Creamy, Healthy

In honor of the day that Americans devote to peanut butter and jelly, today I want to talk about this spreadable cream rich in fats that are not harmful for us. Invented by an American pharmacist named George A. Bayle jr ., in 1890 is created by grinding roasted peanuts and with the addition of small amounts of sugar and vegetable oils

Peanuts, one of the most popular dried fruits, contain monounsaturated fats (good) and proteins, are also rich in oleic acid, vitamin B3, vitamin E, magnesium  folic acid, arginine, and dietary fiber. Thanks to its contents of fatty acids, including omega 6, peanuts are a useful food to lower cholesterol levels. A recent article in the popular magazine Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, explained how niacin, a substance present in peanuts would be a great help with regard to the prevention of Alzheimer.

Peanut butter can be very healthy (if eaten consciously), surely the choice of which one to buy matters, in fact, some contain more sugar than peanut making it very little nutritional, so it is always better to read the informative labels carefully and maybe choose an organic product. If you want, there is a fairly easy way to make peanut butter at home.

To prepare for four people get yourself a dose of 600g peanuts, shell them (work that you can do it with your fingers so even children can participate ) and remove the protective film covering the grain , if you buy them already shelled 500 grams are sufficient but must be without salt.

Arrange peeled and divided uniformly peanuts on a baking sheet (covered with parchment paper) and toast them in the oven (fan) for 8 minutes. When they are ready pour into a bowl to cool them before you pour in the mixer

Now that peanuts are cold and into the mixer together with 30g of vegetable oil, 5g of honey (acacia or wildflower) and 2.5 g of brown sugar. Remember to add a pinch of salt only when it begins to form the cream. The peanut butter can be stored in the fridge.
